7th Pondok Indah International Junior Golf Championship

Singapore’s campaign in the 7th Pondok Indah International Junior Golf Championship proves to be a fruitful one.

Leading our junior achievers in this championship held at Pondok Indah Golf Club at Jakarta Indonesia is SGA’s Development Squad Member Nicole Mok. After submitting a 3-day cumulative score of 13-over 229 (81,76,72), Nicole topped the Girls A Division category. Fellow Singaporean playing in the Boys A Division, Aidil Nor Amani, did not go empty handed and took home the 3rd Runner-up honours with a 3-day score of 6-over 222 (74,73,75).

Ethan Lim took home the 4th Runner-up trophy in the Boys C Division after carding a 2-day score of 18-over 162 (81,81). Kimiko Ang, was declared as the Girls D Division Runner Up while Javelle Chng proves to be too strong for her fellow competitors in the Girls E Division and took home the Champion title.

Pongsapak Laopakdee of Thailand [3-under 213 (71,74,68)] and Virginie Ding of Hongkong [1-under 2015 (70,74,71)] took home the Overall Boys and Girls Champion titles respectively.

Jose Suryadinata of Indonesia surged to the top of the Boys A Division leaderboard while overnight leader, Aaron John Hall was displaced to 2nd position. Singapore’s Justin Kuk posted an identical 3-over 75, cumulative score of 150 (75,75), and dropped to the 8th spot while compatriot Aidil Nor Amani remains at 5th spot after submitting a score of 1-over 73 for the 2nd round, cumulative score 147 (74,73). Shmuwel Soh continue to struggle but climbed one spot up of the leaderboard and is now tied at 21st spot.

In the Girls A Division, Hong Kong’s Virginie Ding is ahead of the pack with a 2-days cumulative score of 144 (70, 74). Nicole Mok of Singapore is still in the running after submitting a score of 4-over 76, 2-days cumulative score of 157 (81,76) and is tied at 4th spot.

Ng Wei Jun remains at the 9th position for the Boys B Division after submitting a 2-days cumulative score of 165 (85,80) good for solo 9th position. Fellow Singaporean, Ryan Ng, is one spot don in the leader board at 10th spot with a score of 167 (81,86).

After struggling in Round 1, Sarah Lim found her groove and finished round 2 with a score of 9-over 81 for a total 2-days cumulative score of 176 (95,81).

The C, D & E divisions concluded yesterday and Singapore’s Ethan Lim finished 5th in the Boys C Division. Kimiko Ang finished 2nd in the Girls D Division and Javelle Chng secured the top spot in the Girls E Division. Laelle Chng finished 10th in the Girls C Division.

The 3rd and Final Round first tee-off at 0630hrs (INA time) today.

Aaron John Hall of Indonesia leads the Boys A Division after the Round 1 of the 7th Pondok Indah International Junior Golf Championship with a score 1-under 71. Singapore’s bet, Justin Kuk, finished the first round with a score of 3-over 75 and currently in solo 6th and behind a stroke of compatriot Aidil Nor Amani. Shmuwel Soh is in 22nd spot.

In Boys B Division, Ng Wei Jun completed Round 1 with 13-over 85 and is currently in 9th position. Fellow Singaporean, Ryan Ng, is ahead by one place after submitting a score of 9-over 81.

Laelle Chng in Girls C Division is currently tied in 6th place with a Round 1 score of 18-over 90. While Kimiko Ang is in solo 2nd in the Girls D Division.

Nicole Mok, playing in the Girls A division and Sarah Lim, competing in Girls B Division, have to report back to the clubhouse early morning of 19 December to complete the remaining holes for Round 1 after the game was suspended due to inclement weather. 

After completing the remaining holes, Nicole submitted a score of 9-over 81 and is currently tied at 6th position while Sarah finished Round 1 at 14th spot in her division.

SGA’s Development and Junior Squad Members will be representing Singapore in the 7th Pondok Indah International Junior Golf Championship in Jakarta Indonesia.

Justin Kuk and Shmuwel Soh will be competing in the Boys A Division while Ng Wei Jun will be battling it out in the Boys B Division.

Nicole Mok, the eldest in the group, will be representing Singapore in the Girls A Division. While Sarah Lim will compete in the Girls B Division. The two youngest competitors in the team, Laelle Chng and Kimiko Ang will be flying SIngapore’s flag in the Girls C and D Divisions respectively.

Other Singaporeans in the field of 102 players are Aidil Nor Amani (Boys A), Ryan Ng (Boys B), Ethan Lim (Boys C) and Javelle Chng (Girls D)
