The SGA and MGA Teams go into tomorrow's Singles matches with 6 points each after Day 1 of their annual match.  Trailing the MGA Team by 2 points after the morning's Fourball Matches, the SGA Team made up for it by winning 4 points in the afternoon's Foursomes Matches. 

The 2 points from the morning's Fourball Matches came from Match 3 comprising George and Gregory Foo  who beat Gavin Green and Jeremiah Kim 5 and 4; Match 4 comprising Jonathan Woo and Lam Zhiqun who squared with Kenneth De Silva and Azman Basharuddin and Match 6 comprising Marc Ong and Kenji Cheung who squared with Iylia Jamil and Iszaimi Ismail.

The ladies put up a remarkable performance in the Foursomes matches and contributed 1 1/2 points to the afternoon's tally of 4 points.  Match 1 comprising Joey Poh and Koh Sock Kwee beat Ainil Johani and Joanne Lagan 2 and 1 and Match 2 comprising Stephanie Loi and Kok Jo Ee squared their match with Sharon Lau and Vivienne Chin. 

The other 2 1/2 points came from Match 4 comprising Lam Zhiqun and Jonathan Woo who beat Azman Basharuddin and Jeremiah Kim 1 up; Match 5 comprising Marc Ong and Johnson Poh who beat Abel Tam and Chan Tuck Soon 1 up and Match 6 comprising Jerome Ng and Kenji Cheung who squared their match with Iszaimi Ismail and Iylia Jamil.

The Singapore Golf Association will host the 2009 edition of the annual match between the SGA and the MGA at the Raffles Country Club Palm Course from 9 - 11 Feb 10.  The SGA will be defending the trophy which it won in 2008.  For the first time in its history, the team from both sides will include ladies.  Each Association will field a team of 12 players comprising 8 men and 4 ladies.  They will play 6 Four ball, 6 Foursomes and 12 Single matches.  The team that wins 12 1/2 points will be declared the winner.
