Low and Tan Secures Win in 5th National Ranking Game
The 5th National Ranking was held at the Palm Course, Raffles Country Club from the 5th to 7th February. Players were tested with high winds and tricky pin positions during their rounds.
In the Men’s Division, Elite Squad player, Low Wee Jin got the better of Gregory Foo shooting rounds of 73,73,76 for a three-day total of 6-over par to win the Boy’s division of the 5th National Ranking Game. The two players slugged it out during the last round with Low holding a slender 3-stroke lead. Foo started out well with birdies on the first and the third hole to give him the lead with Low making an unlikely bogey on the second. Low answered with a couple of birdies on the back nine to get back the lead after the par four 14th. However, Foo had a disappointing final stretch where he made four bogeys out of his last five holes to shoot 74, 75, 74 for a three-day total of 7-over par which allowed Low to win this 5th National Game by a single stroke.
In the Ladies Division, Sarah Tan edged out Callista Chen by two strokes to win this 5th National Ranking Game.
