Marina Bay Golf Course promotes golf through 6-hole unique putting course

As golfers are faced with fewer options and less time for golf in Singapore, Marina Bay Golf Course is getting creative in making the sport more appealing to juniors, families and even serious golfers. It unveiled a unique par 24, 6-hole putting course, which will be officially open to the public on 27 November 2017.

Known as Marina Bay Putting Course, the 211-metre course is a long putt away from a miniature putting course. Its conceptualisation and design, a collaboration between NCI Golf Pte Ltd and Universal Gardens Pte Ltd, aim to make the putting course fun and challenging for the novice and the experienced golfer.

In addition to its manicured greens which are similar to those on the golf course, the putting course features careful contouring, undulations, and holes of varying lengths. Its par 3, par 4 and par 5 holes ranging from 20 to 62 metres, and challenging breaks take golfers on a mind-bending and exploratory golf journey.

“Marina Bay Putting Course opens up new possibilities for people of all ages and skill levels to play and experience golf on real greens. Even families can enjoy a fun-filled round together and bond over a game of golf,” said Mr Ng Ser Miang, Chairman of NCI Golf.

With fewer practice facilities and full-sized golf courses locally, the putting course offers golfers a refreshing option and alternative to the driving range, and an avenue to hone their putting skills. Schools, associations and corporate companies can hold team-building events and competitions on the putting course too.

Moving forward, NCI Golf is exploring unconventional ways of play which could appeal to the changing demands of today’s golfers. If playing 6 holes is not satisfying for some, there is the flexibility of reversing the course for another round of 6 holes and new challenges. Another consideration is to allow golfers to play 6 holes on the putting course followed by 3 or 6 holes on the main golf course, instead of the full 18 holes.

With this idea in mind, NCI Golf is organizing a 6-hole game at Marina Bay Golf Course for participants of the my golf kaki 15th Anniversary event that will take place on 26 November. Participants will get to try the putting course too. If response is positive, time conscious golfers could get to enjoy the best of both courses in the near future.

These exciting developments follow recent news that Marina Bay Golf Course has once again earned top accolades in the Asian Golf Awards, a premier poll of golfing facilities in the Asia Pacific region. Marina Bay Golf Course was awarded ‘Best Value for Money Experience in Asia Pacific’, ‘Best Public Golf Course in Asia Pacific’ and second runner-up for ‘Best Course in Singapore’. In addition, the golf course won the ‘Best Golf Course Singapore’ award at The Dot Property Singapore Awards.

“We are grateful for the continuous support which we enjoy from the community. In our quest to bring more value to golfers through our new initiatives, we hope to make golf more accessible and appealing to the public too,” said Ng.
