SMBC Singapore Open 2018
The 2018 edition of the SMBC Singapore Open ended in style as the reigning Masters Champion; Sergio Garcia outclassed the field in the final two rounds to win by a comfortable 5 strokes (66,70,66,68).
There were multiple course closures throughout the whole week due to lightning and rain, but the sunny final round came in handy to conclude all four tournament rounds. The weather did not deter the golfing fans from coming out and catch the live action at Sentosa Golf Club.
Throughout the whole week, we have had great local support from the crowd for our local professionals and amateurs. Especially on the weekend for our two professionals; Choo Tze Huang and Koh Dengshan as well as two amateurs; Gregory Foo and Jesse Yap whom all made the halfway cut.
Top Local Professional Choo Tze Huang finished his final round with a 70 to card rounds of 70,69,71,70 to finish T16th alongside with Japanese star Ryo Ishikawa and seasoned veteran Liang Wen Chong.
Choo was not alone with his fine finish. Singapore’s No 1 Amateur and this week’s Local Top Amateur Gregory Foo had a fruitful week despite a two-over final round 73. He played solidly all week until the Par 4 16th hole on the final round which he recorded a double-bogey. Gregory fought back bravely and finished his final hole with a birdie on the Par 5 18th.
- Choo Tze Huang – T16th (70,69,71,70) 4 under total
