Team Korea Clinches WIn for Boys and Girls’ Division at the Asian Junior Team Golf Championship 2017
Three teams were sent to compete at the Asian Junior Golf Team Championship 2017 held in Korea from the 11 to 13 October. Budding talent from Korea, Japan, Thailand, the Philippines, Chinese Taipei, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore were invited to battled it out at the Gunsan Golf & Country Club, Jeollabuk-do, Korea.
Our boys team consist of Andre Chong, Brandon Han, Tommy Tan and Justin Kuk while Nicole Mok, Inez Ng and Hailey Loh represented the nation for the girls’ division.
The event concluded with Team Korea clinching the top spot for both the boys and girls’ division. The team of Dohong Bae, Kangho Cha, Daewon Ju and Seungmin Kim finished with a team total of 670 (233, 227, 219, 226 respectively) to keep Team Thailand at bay with a 10-stroke lead. Team Singapore finished 6th position with a team total of 716 (Chong – 236, Han – 250, Tan – 237 and Kuk – 246).
The girls’ division saw Team Korea’s Hyelim Jo, Yujin Sung, Jungmin Hong card a team total of 439 (220, 228, 231 respectively) to edge out Team Japan’s Fureu Ayaka, Yamashita Miyu and Onitsuka Kiri who finished with 455 (225, 232, 237 respectively). Team Singapore’s best efforts of 512 (Mok – 255, Ng – 259, Loh – 261) placed them 6th in the field.
